Chicken Breasts Stuffed with Sage and Fontina Cheese

Rated

Ingredients

1/2 tbsp olive oil
Salt to taste
black pepper to taste
4 slices fontina cheese
4 boneless chicken breasts, skin on
4 to 8 small fresh sage leaves

Preparation

1 Preheat an oven to 350°F.

2 Rinse the chicken breasts and pat dry with paper towels.

3 Slit the side of each breast horizontally to form a pocket. Stuff each pocket with a slice of Fontina and 1 or 2 sage leaves, depending on their size. Close the breasts and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

4 Melt the butter in an ovenproof sauté pan over high heat. Add the breasts, skin side down, and sauté until browned, about 3 minutes.

5 Transfer the pan to the oven and bake until the breasts are fully cooked and the cheese oozes, about 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
