Have you ever encountered injured, orphaned or ill local wildlife? The most helpful action is contacting a licensed rehabilitation center, so animals can receive proper, professional care and be released back into the wild.

In Northwest Indiana, the nonprofit Humane Indiana Wildlife is the place to contact.

You can help in their mission from Monday, May 4, through Sunday, May 10, when Humane Indiana Wildlife will be the beneficiary of Strack & Van Til’s Checkout Challenge Round Up. Customers across the Region can round up their purchase to the nearest dollar when shopping at their local Strack & Van Til store, with those extra funds donated to the organization.

Checkout Challenge Round Up proceeds will support Humane Indiana’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, funding medical treatment, specialized diets, habitat supplies and daily care for thousands of injured and orphaned animals.

Humane Indiana Wildlife cares for more than 3,600 animals each year, representing more than 100 native species. During peak spring and summer months, the center admits dozens of animals daily, many orphaned or injured due to human-related causes.

“We are incredibly grateful to Strack & Van Til and their customers for supporting local wildlife in such a simple yet powerful way,” notes Humane Indiana CEO Brian Fitzpatrick. “Every rounded-up dollar makes a real difference for the thousands of animals that come through our doors each year. Strack & Van Til continues its more than 96-year tradition of philanthropy by raising funds through the Checkout Challenge Round Up program to help organizations in the communities it serves throughout Northwest Indiana.
