Help Meals on Wheels NWI cook and deliver through Strack & Van…

For many residents across Northwest Indiana, receiving a reliable meal at home is an important part of staying well, and Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana (MOW) helps ensure they do. MOW volunteers deliver meals to more than 3,200 people each year, including a large share of seniors who face health challenges that limit their ability to shop.
You can help from Monday, Aug. 10, through Sunday, Aug. 23, when Meals on Wheels of NWI will be the beneficiary of Strack & Van Til’s Checkout Challenge Round Up. Customers across the Region can round up their purchase to the nearest dollar when shopping in all Strack & Van Til stores with those extra funds donated to the organization.
Round Up contributions help fund the preparation, provision and delivery of hot nutritious meals, support the purchase of vans and assist with outreach efforts that aim to expand service throughout Northwest Indiana.
Operating in the Region for 49 years and serving more than 10 million meals since its founding, MOW now delivers more than 10,000 meals per week to clients in Lake, Porter, Jasper, Starke and Pulaski Counties and prepares meals for the LaPorte County Meals on Wheels Program.
“We are thrilled to team up with Strack & Van Til once again for the Checkout Challenge,” says CEO Ryan Elinkowski. “The extraordinary generosity of their customers directly empowers us to fight food insecurity across Northwest Indiana. Our deepest thanks go to the shoppers for their hard-earned contributions and to Strack & Van Til for opening their doors to this crucial cause.”
Strack & Van Til continues its more than 96-year tradition of philanthropy by raising funds through the Checkout Challenge Round Up program to help organizations in the communities it serves throughout Northwest Indiana.
Strack & Van Til President Jeff Strack credits customer generosity and employee commitment for the success of the Checkout Challenge Round Ups.
“Giving back to the communities we serve is just naturally a part of Strack & Van Til’s culture,” Strack says. “We are incredibly grateful to our customers who contribute to these Round Up campaigns and make a difference in the lives of so many people. They are the ones who give back to the community. Our stores, with the help of our employees, simply provide our customers with an outlet to donate to some of their favorite local organizations.”
