On Labor Day, we honor and recognize the work and contributions of American laborers, with many of us marking the day by gathering with family and friends. If you plan to grill this holiday weekend, let Strack & Van Til do the heavy lifting with savory Labor Day specialties from the Meat and Seafood and Deli Departments.

“Sink your teeth into our thick, restaurant-quality half-pound pub burgers — crafted from a blend of high-quality Certified Angus Beef and bursting with flavor,” says Meat and Seafood Department Director Gary Teachman. “It’s sure to be the best burger you’ve ever eaten.”
If you want total burger bliss, the Meat and Seafood Department offers varieties including the indulgent Cheddar Bacon burger, made with Wisconsin cubed cheddar cheese and smoky bacon. For an added kick, try the Pepper Jack Bacon burger.
Enjoy a Swiss and mushroom burger or Cheddar burger and top them with grilled onions for a mouth-watering treat. Or opt for the Mozzarella Italian burger to add a bit of spice to your menu.
The Blue Cheese pub burger is a Black and Blue burger done right, and the Black Pepper burger is a longstanding Strack & Van Til favorite.
For an appetizing alternative to beef, choose the spicy Buffalo turkey pub burger, the savory Spinach Feta turkey burger or freshly made salmon burgers. Loaded with omega-3s, the salmon burgers are available in Zesty Dill, Cajun, Spinach Feta and Garlic Parmesan flavors.
“Try some of our 35 sausage varieties, made fresh daily in-store from the finest ingredients, including Smithfield Prime Pork and Strack & Van Til signature seasonings,” notes Teachman.
Sausage options include Zombie Dust bratwurst, cheddar, bacon cheddar, Jalapeño pineapple or beer bratwurst with a beer favorite that changes by the season. Choose from a selection of ever-changing options including savory mild or hot Italian, Holiday Italian with Italian cheese, bell peppers and onions, Southwestern Chorizo, Big Easy Cajun, old-fashion potato, apple, garlic Polska, Andouille and Siracha and Pepper Jack Andouille.
Lighter options include mild or hot Italian turkey sausage, chicken sausage, chicken bratwurst and mild or hot Italian chicken sausage. There’s also Feta cheese and spinach and Blazing Buffalo chicken sausage.
The Meat Department’s hot and mild Italian beef sausages are a beef-lover’s delight. Check out the unique Reuben sausage made from corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. (Reuben sausage and some other varieties are available only seasonally.)
Kabobs are skewered fresh daily in the Strack & Van Til Meat Department and include a protein, fresh bell peppers and onions. Meat kabobs are made with center-cut top butt, hand trimmed fresh natural chicken, Smithfield Prime pork tenderloin or natural turkey tenders. Shrimp, farm raised Atlantic salmon or tuna kabobs are delicious on the grill, and the Seafood Department at select stores will even grill them for you.
“Enhance your meal with bacon-wrapped fresh asparagus, made with our special seasoning. Place it on a small metal baking sheet on the top shelf of your grill and cook for approximately 20 minutes, turning often,” Teachman says. “For an easy side, put our baking tins of twice baked potatoes, potato skins, campfire potatoes or Firecracker corn on the grill.”
